ABOUT US

Our Downtown Works for All of Us

Downtown Martinsville is more than a collection of buildings. It’s where neighbors gather, small businesses grow, traditions continue, and new ideas take shape.

Rediscover Martinsville is a volunteer-driven nonprofit working to strengthen and revitalize our downtown. By supporting local businesses, preserving historic spaces, and creating meaningful experiences, we’re helping ensure our downtown remains active, welcoming, and full of character.

This work belongs to all of us.

How We Strengthen Our Downtown

Revitalizing a downtown doesn’t happen overnight and it doesn’t happen alone. It takes neighbors, business owners, volunteers, and community partners working toward the same goal.

Since 2008, our efforts have followed the nationally recognized Main Street approach, a framework designed to help communities grow stronger while preserving what makes them unique. But at its heart, this work is about people showing up and investing in the place we share.
Supporting Local Businesses

A thriving downtown starts with the businesses that call it home. We work alongside shop owners and entrepreneurs to create an environment where they can succeed, because when local businesses grow, our entire community benefits.
Caring for Our Spaces

Historic buildings, sidewalks, trees, and gathering places all shape how our downtown feels. Through thoughtful improvements and preservation efforts, we help ensure that our downtown remains welcoming, walkable, and reflective of our history.
Bringing People Together

Events and shared experiences give people a reason to spend time downtown. From seasonal traditions to new opportunities to gather, these moments strengthen connections and support the businesses that make downtown vibrant.
Working Together
Revitalization is community work. Volunteers, local leaders, business owners, and public partners all play a role. By building strong partnerships and staying focused on long-term progress, we ensure our efforts are sustainable and meaningful.

Downtown Impact

Over the years, our community has worked together to make tangible improvements throughout the downtown area, from façade updates and public art installations to landscaping, tree replacement, and enhanced gathering spaces.

These efforts reflect what is possible when residents, businesses, volunteers, and partners invest in the future of our downtown together.
